This is a pretty light sentence, in my opinion.

North Carolina Sheriff's Employee Pleads Guilty To $300+K Embezzlement
Kimberly D. Perkins, 29, of Durham, North Carolina, pleaded guilty Friday to embezzling $311,400 from the Durham County Sheriff’s Department and was sentenced to 2 years probation and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine. Perkins, who was first hired in 1999 and was named the 2004 employee of the year for the Department, was arrested in May 2007 for the thefts. The thefts reportedly commenced at least as early as January 2004.
