Robert Ira Aronson, 63, of Boynton Beach, Florida has been charged with embezzling some $200,000 from Lappin Communications-Florida, owned by Bob Lappin, the controversial conductor of the Palm Beach Pops, for whom he had been employed as director of business and finance. According to authorities, Aronson transferred funds at least 69 times from Lappin's company to his personal accounts. The scheme spanned nearly two years, from January 2, 2008 through December 21, 2009, totaling $191,650 in misappropriated funds. Aronson also gave himself extra pay and unauthorized raises.
