Trial Is Set For New Hampshire Woman Accused Of $300K Embezzlement

Rebecca McGuire of Amherst, New Hampshire was accused of embezzling at least $311,501 while serving as the treasurer of the Jasper Valley Swim and Tennis Club between 1998 and 2007, in a civil case filed in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Manchester, New Hampshire. A trial date has been set in the case for May 26, 2009. According to the club's complaint, the fraud was accomplished in several ways. McGuire wrote checks directly to herself which she cashed. She also wrote checks directly from the club's accounts payable to her mortgage and credit card companies. She also transferred money from club accounts through checks issued to cash. Finally, she transferred money through "debit memos, by which cash could be withdrawn and banker's checks issued" for her own benefit. A criminal case is reported to be ongoing.

  3. The trial date of May 26 has come and gone and I haven't seen any news or internet coverage. I also see her around town with a big smile on her face. Anyone know what happened?

  4. I believe Becky's civil trial has been postponed to a later date. She probably has a big smile on her face because she gets whatever she wants. She has the house in the Vineyard, she finds loopholes to get her trial continued, and she for the time being, she has persuaded her husband to not see his mistress anymore. Not that he's any great prize himself, however, money talks and he isn't willing to loose his share of it.

  5. For all of your information, Becky is a great woman. the reason she has a smile on her face is because she can see the positive light and has hope and faith in the future. The news is none of your business since all you are going to use the information for is gossip. None of you have the positive light that she does. You should be ashamed of yourselves for saying this about Becky and Charlie like that. Charlie is a great "prize" and Becky doesn't weasel her way out of anything and is handling all of this surprisingly well and are dealing with it together, as tough as it is. Quit your gossiping and do something else that may actually HELP someone out. Stop saying the negative things and being judgmental. our world is full of too many people like you.

Becky & Charlie - im with you through this and love you both. don't take any of this to heart. truth of the matter is, they are jealous of everything WONDERFUL that you are. don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  6. With all due respect, Lauren, Becky still embezzled more than $300,000 from her employer who trusted her. She may have been a "great woman" at one time, but, in my book, a violation of trust this big negates such a moniker.

  8. Becky broke the law- a really big law. She betrayed her friends and fellow town citizens. She lived a false and unethical life. She did that so that she could maintain a lifestyle that was not attainable otherwise. The rest of us work hard for a living and accept what we can and can't have, based on our income. I do not think she deserves our admiration on how she handles this. She deserves to repay the money like she is doing, and take the punishment the court dishes out.

That is EXACTLY what Becky is doing right now.

I agree with Lauren- Becky is an amazing person who made a big mistake and is now (and will always be) paying for it.

  10. You're right, Becky is amazing. Amazingly creative that is in the ways she stole money from the Jasper Valley Members for over 10 years. She also stole money from the account to write a check to her employer Pragmatech. How do you think Pragmatech feels about receiving stolen money?

  11. I am the other woman and I know that I would never embezzle $311,501.00 from my employer. And to the woman who thinks Charlie is a "prize", I don't know what woman would consider a cheating spouse a "prize." Charlie had an affair with me and took my heart and "shattered" it in a billion pieces. I loved him and personally, I hope Becfky ends up in prison for what she did.

  12. Lauren Greene......

For all "your" information, Becky is NOT the victim here, Jasper Valley Swim and Tennis club is! Becky is NOT a positive person or anyone to emmulate---she is a "thief!" She is NOT a role model for the future generation. She is a horrible person who deserves to pay for her "crime." If you think that anyone in their "right" mind is jealous of a greedy, dishonest thief, then maybe you are a thief yourself.

Don't hate Charlie's GF for having the guts to come out and be honest....Charlie's wife has yet to do that!!!

  15. I am truely sorry for what I've done. Please forgive me Charlie.

  16. Becky,

I am truely sorry for the actions I have taken, my behaviour is "inexcusable." I have been thoughtless, cruel, and insensitive to you. In fact, I have been very selfish, and downright "heartless." You did not deserve any of the actions I have taken and I apologize for my behaviour. I am so sorry for everything I've done. Please forgive me Becky.

  17. I don't want to see Becky do any prison time; her time is better served being there for her children. Charlie, my prayers are with you. I don't want your wife to do any prison time.

  18. For goodness sakes Christine, stop your whining. Becky does deserve to go go prison, she does deserve to serve prison time for what she did. It is not ok for Becky to steal from her friends and community for over 10 years and still continue to live her life like nothing has changed. She has not shown one bit of remorse, nor has she apologized to the Jasper Valley community for her actions. Instead she continues on with life like she always has, shopping at the malls and having her hair done - she has not missed an appointment. Also, the children have a father, and Charlie is certainly capable of taking care of them while Becky is in prison. Besides, these kids are away at college now. Becky cannot claim she is better off at home where she can nuture the needs of her family, the kids aren't even there! Besides, both kids are adults and they are capable of taking care of themselves. If Becky does not go to prison and they allow her to go to the Manchester Academy and Reparative Probation this will set a tone for others that steal. On October 19 we will see what happens.

  19. Christine - why are you asking Becky to forgive you? Becky is the one that should be asking for forgiveness. I don't think she ever will.

  20. Perhaps you should show a little more compassion...

  21. Perhaps Becky should show some remorse.

  22. My empathy is with Charlie. I have a 21 year old daughter myself who is away at college, and although she thinks she's all grown up, she hasn't stopped needing me yet. (But don't tell her that.) And yes, I have compassion for Becky because I'm a mom myself.

  23. By the way Anon, why don't you stop your whining? And since when are you an expert on how someone expresses remorse? I wouldn't call supporting a man who doesn't want his wife to go to prison "whining".
    I'm expressing my support.

  30. How odd-- the pic was taken of Becky hugging a relative. Where is the pic of her hugging her husband?
