Lorena Laverne Fortuna, 31, of Phoenix, Arizona, has been charged with embezzling more than $1 million over an 8 year period from Trimedica International, a Tempe-based natural supplement maker for which she had been employed as a human resources manager. Fortuna is alleged to have manipulated the payroll system to increase her pay adding more than $1 million to her salary. She also allegedly placed her boyfriend on the payroll, paying him $181,210, according to investigators.
