Michele Davenport, aka Michele Mahoney, 45, of Reno, Nevada, was sentenced to 8 years in prison for embezzling $213,221 from Davyd Pelsue, a local veterinarian, for whom she had been employed as office manager. Davenport reportedly used some of the ill-gotten gains to pay for lavish vacations, remodeling her home, gourmet food and other luxury items. I worked at SVS on Mill St. In Reno in 2012. I loved it there until I witnessed an intern veterinarian hit an employees cat so hard, the poor thing was twitching long after. I really wanted to do the same to her after that. But, I reported it to management instead. They did absolutely nothing about it. I just couldn't handle that, and I guess I couldn't hide how I felt about it, I told the employee that owned the cat. So they let me go. It was not just heart breaking about the cat, but that they sided with an animal abuser. I was a very loyal employee, and a hard worker. They didn't need to hire a cleaning service, I was it. The way they did me at the end, you'd think that I was the one who committed a crime. It was sad, I really liked my boss and most of the staff at that time. Too bad.
