Rod Blagojevich has been removed as governor of the State of Illinois by a unanimous 59-0 vote of the State Senate late this afternoon. Following revelations from his public corruption investigation that he allegedly attempted to sell President Obama's former US Senate seat, the embattled Blagojevich was impeached on January 9th by the Illinois House in a vote of 114-1. He is the first Illinois governor ever and the first US governor in more than 20 years to be removed by impeachment. Lt.
