The trial for Kenneth L. Montgomery, 49, the former pastor of Hilltop Community Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, who is accused of embezzling $131,000 from the church, commenced today. Montgomery, who was the pastor from 2004 - 2007, allegedly cashed parishioner's checks instead of depositing them into the Church coffers. Montgomery reportedly stripped his house after it was sold at auction to pay a civil judgment in this case, including its mailbox, a hot tub and kitchen cabinet knobs. He also reportedly removed 10 to 15 shrubs.
