Former Office Manager Going on Trial for Embezzlement
A former office manager accused of stealing more than $100,000 from his employer will go to trial.
A judge decided Thursday there is enough evidence to move the case forward against Wayne Michael Balcom of Potterville. Investigators say he embezzled more than $130,000 from the Holt Family Practice in Ingham County's Delhi Township.
The investigation started last August after owners of the clinic noticed the missing money.
Balcom has a prior conviction for check fraud. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted on the embezzlement charge.
We spoke to his family in March when charges were issued. They maintain his innocence. The doctor's office declined to comment.
