Former Cleveland City Councilman Charged With Bribery
Robert J. White, III, age 47, of Cleveland, Ohio, and a former Cleveland City Councilman, was charged Monday with one count of bribery in violation of the Hobbs Act. White resigned Tuesday after prosecutors accused him of accepting a $500 bribe in exchange for helping a local business restore electrical power. He faces up to 20 years in prison, plus a maximum fine of $250,000. White is reportedly facing financial difficulties and has had several liens filed against him. He was a 12 year veteran of the Cleveland City Council.
