Scruggs Pleads Guilty To Bribery Charges - Again
Richard "Dickie" F. Scruggs, the well known class action plaintiffs attorney from Mississippi, pleaded guilty today to mail fraud in connection with a scheme to bribe a state court judge. Scruggs, who earned hundreds of millions of dollars on a multi-billion dollar tobacco settlement, plead guilty last year to a separate scheme to bribe another state court judge in a case involving a dispute over $26.5 million in legal fees from a Hurricane Katrina insurance settlement case. He was disbarred in that case and is serving a 5 year sentence.
