California Bookkeeper Pleads Guilty To $824K Embezzlement

Nancy Jean Mulkey, 58, of Stockton, California, plead guilty yesterday to grand theft and falsifying corporate books and admitted to stealing some $824,000 from ABF Farm Services, Inc. Under the plea agreement, Mulkey was sentenced to five years in prison, plus must pay restitution and cooperate with authorities to recover any available stolen money. Mulkey had been employed by ABF for more than 10 years before her job was eliminated and the fraud was uncovered. According to prosecutors, Mulkey "falsified checks and paid off her personal credit cards with corporate checks," among other personal uses of the ill gotten funds.
