Aviation Maintenance Company Pays $4 Million To Settle Fraud Charges Of Overbilling On Iraq Contracts

L-3 Vertex Aerospace, based in Madison, Mississippi, and a subsidiary of L-3 Communications Corp., agreed on Monday to pay $4 million to settle charges it had submitted false and inflated claims to the US Army for hours worked by company employees on a helicopter maintenance contract. A company whistle blower, Henry W. Roderigas, brought the case to light and is entitled to a reward of $720,000. The company would have been charged with violations of the False Claims Act if it had not settled the case.
