Fred Fernando Timbol, 43, of Mount Airy, Maryland, and a former facilities services officer for the United States Tax Court, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for accepting kickbacks from contractors he steered business to. Timbol, who has assisted with the prosecution of other conspirators in the crime, admitted to accepting at least $12,471 in kickbacks on six construction and maintenance contracts had had awarded. Timbol's cooperation led to the prosecution and conviction of Daniel Money, of Shady Side, Maryland, who was sentenced last month to 2 1/2 years in prison for offering to pay some $55 in bribes to Timbol.
