FBI Deputy Director John Pistole told the Senate Judiciary Committee today that there are 530 active corporate fraud cases that the agency is investigating. 38 of those cases are directly related to the current financial crises, according to Pistole. In addition, there are more than 1,800 mortgage fraud cases ongoing. Given the volume of mortgage fraud cases, Pistole told the Committee that they are not focusing on individual cases, but rather "industry professionals" who could be responsible for "hundreds of millions" in fraud.Read the story here.
