Michael T. Harrington, 44, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, a former General Services Administration accounting supervisor, pleaded guilty yesterday to embezzling $593,549 from the agency between May 2006 and May 2008. Harrington, who had been indicted October 30th on 4 felony fraud counts, created a phony business, issued 13 fraudulent government refund payment vouchers, and deposited the funds into a bank account in the name of that business. He faces up to 20 years in prison, plus a fine of $500,000 and restitution.Read the DOJ's announcement here.
